About

Operation Veggie Box is a new Christian ministry launched at Bethany Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Arapahoe, NC, in August, 2013, and based in Pamlico County, North Carolina.

The twofold mission of OVB is to provide fresh vegetables and a spiritual message to feed the hungry physically and spiritually so they can know the love of Christ and how the Holy Spirit can help them; and to get churches of all faiths and other organizations to work together to feed the hungry.

Using volunteers of any faith or belief, OVB prepares sites; plants gardens from seed and transplants; tends them; harvests the vegetables as they mature; packs the produce into boxes or bags with spiritual messages inside; and delivers them. OVB does not distribute produce directly, but delivers it to existing food pantries, soup kitchens and other organizations that distribute food to the hungry.

OVB is seeking to partner with churches and other organizations to grow gardens using the OVB logo and standard garden model. Partners that grow OVB standard gardens will be supplied with seed, transplants, an operating manual, and remote and site help.
